History

The Global Leadership Institute arose from the vision of the Nelson Mandela University to be an African university, recognised for its cutting edge knowledge for sustainable futures. This desire is amplified by the university’s mission to offer a diverse range of quality educational opportunities that will make a critical and constructive contribution to regional, national and global sustainability.

The GLI enterprise will contribute significantly towards leading engagements regarding sustainable development that United Nations Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon described in Davos during January 2014 as “opportunities that are boundless … good for the planet, good for the people and good for business”.
